The Nature of Self-Improving Artificial Intelligence
Self-improving systems are a promising new approach to developing artificial intelligence. But will their behavior be predictable? Can we be sure that they will behave as we intended even after many generations of selfimprovement? This paper presents a framework for answering questions like these. It shows that self-improvement causes systems to converge on an
متن کاملArtificial Intelligence Safety Engineering: Why Machine Ethics Is a Wrong Approach
Machine ethics and robot rights are quickly becoming hot topics in artificial intelligence/robotics communities. We will argue that the attempts to allow machines to make ethical decisions or to have rights are misguided. Instead we propose a new science of safety engineering for intelligent artificial agents. In particular we issue a challenge to the scientific community to develop intelligent...
متن کاملDistributed Agent Based Model for Intrusion Detection System Based on Artificial Immune System
With mounting global network connectivity, the issue of intrusion has achieved importance, promoting active research on efficient Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Artificial Immune System (AIS) is a new bio-inspired model which is applied for solving various problems in the field of information security. Because of its unique features, (self-learning, self-adaptation and selfimprovement), AIS...

The contributions to this issue, which were all written by PhD students, reflect upon the meaning of a symptomatology of organization and explore its possible practice. The idea of symptomatology itself originates from medicine and refers to the study of the signs of a disease. In medicine, the general task of the symptomatologist is to interpret and organize different symptoms in such a way th...
متن کاملCross-Domain Effects of Guilt on Desire for Self-Improvement Products
This research examines the notion that guilt, the negative emotion stemming from a failure to meet a self-held standard of behavior, leads to preferences for products enabling self-improvement, even in domains unrelated to the original source of the guilt. Examining consumer responses to real products, this research shows that such effects arise because guilt—by its focus on previous wrongdoing...
